A Warm Welcome to You
Welcome to the website of Stoke Damerel Parish Church
Stoke Damerel Parish Church has been in existence (in one form or another) for over 800 years. During those many years worshippers have welcomed many seekers, visitors and fellow Christians into the church. That friendly and unreserved welcome continues to this day and we are honoured and would be delighted to make you feel at home, whoever you are, or from whatever background, tradition or experience you have.
In our Sunday Parish Eucharist at 10.00am we sing traditional and modern hymns, and use the traditional forms of church worship. A strong but gentle lead is given throughout in order that new seekers are not abandoned or highlighted. This service is also called: The Lord’s Supper; the Holy Communion Service and the Mass, and lasts about one hour. We have been recently blessed by the arrival of an organist which has boosted our singing and the quality of worshipping the Almighty.
There is also on a Sunday a said service of Holy Communion at 8.00am which lasts thirty minutes - this is a service of quiet reflection and prayer.
We are pleased to welcome visitors to the church. We are open at times other than worship but these times vary so pease get in touch before visiting We have information leaflets available on our heritage and there will be someone on hand to welcome you and answer questions. We are also very pleased to open the building if your visit doesn’t coincide with the open times. Please contact us to check the open times or if you would like to arrange a visit outside these times.
