A Warm Welcome to You
Welcome to the website of Stoke Damerel Parish Church
Stoke Damerel Parish Church has been in existence (in one form or another) for over 800 years. During those many years worshippers have welcomed many seekers, visitors and fellow Christians into the church. That friendly and unreserved welcome continues to this day and we are honoured and would be delighted to make you feel at home, whoever you are, or from whatever background, tradition or experience you have.
In our Sunday Parish Eucharist at 10.00am we sing traditional and modern hymns, and use the traditional forms of church worship. A strong but gentle lead is given throughout in order that new seekers are not abandoned or highlighted. This service is also called: The Lord’s Supper; the Holy Communion Service and the Mass, and lasts about one hour. Sadly due to COVID restrictions, we are unable to sing together for the time being
There is also on a Sunday a said service of Holy Communion at 8.00am which lasts thirty minutes - this is a service of quiet reflection and prayer.
COVID: The wearing of masks is now up to individual choice, though we encourage the use of facemasks in crowded situations.
We welcome you into our diverse and colourful community, for in the words of Jesus in his Gospel, ‘For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened’. (Luke 11.10).
